Karen Aicken’s Faves

Today we get to learn more about our April gust, Karen Aicken. Karen is sharing one of her faves when it comes to paper crafting. Scroll on down to learn more and see the card she created.

****

I love making interactive cards, and the Z-Fold card design is one I make frequently. I also like to get more mileage from my dies, finding different ways to use them than they were intended.

For this card I turned the Sunburst Panel die so it was vertical rather than horizontal.

I cut a section of a second Sunburst Panel to add to the centre portion of my card base, and also trimmed off the long stitched edge of that second panel to use on the far right of my card.

A Little Bit of Magic from Andrea

Happy Friday, YNS fans! It’s Andrea and today I’m sharing a card using products from Your Next Stamp’s April release.

That cute fairy is from the Wishing Well Fairy set, and the fun well is from the new Magical Wishing Wells set. I stamped all of the images with Black Olive Dye ink, colored them with Copics, and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I kept my background on the simple side to keep the focus on those adorable images. I die-cut some watercolor paper with the largest die from the Stitched Scallop Rectangles Die Set and loosely watercolored the sky and grass with Mermaid Lagoon and Mowed Lawn distress oxides. After heat-setting the background, I flicked on some water droplets and blotted them dry with a towel.

I stamped a sentiment from Magical Wishing Wells with Versafine Onyx Black ink and attached my watercolored panel to a white cardbase. I adhered my colored images with foam tape (I put two layers behind the frogs.) and added white highlights and Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay. For a little more sparkle, I scattered on a few clear sequins.

Have a great weekend!
