May guest Samantha Olden is taking over the YNS blog again. This time she is sharing one of her favorites with all of us. Get ready to be inspired. Scroll on down to find out her fave!
I am sharing one of my favourite YNS items today: ‘The Wave Panel Die Set’.
It is such a versatile die. Not only is it great for making summery water scenes, in the winter time I’ve turned it into ski hills and winter scenes. Today I made not one, but two cards using both the frame and wave elements of the die.
So before die cutting the wave panel I started by using alcohol ink pearls sublime and tranquil with blending solution. I tilted the card around until I was happy with the outcome. In addition to die cutting the wave panel out of the alcohol ink pearl card, I also cut several more wave panels out of white card stock. These extra frames and wave pieces were used to build depth on both cards.
For the first card I laid the alcohol pearl ink wave pieces on a A2 card base, slightly right justified and trimmed off the right side. Then I choose a few of the alcohol wave pieces and glued 3-4 layers of white card stock beneath to create different thickness waves for added interest. Finally, I used the wave panel frame as a guide to help nicely position and glue the waves to the card base and added the coloured images from ‘Sea Friends’ on top. The sentiment is from the same set, which I embossed vertically.
On the second card I layered the alcohol ink pearl wave frame on top of acetate and then glued 4 more frames underneath to create separate wells for sequins. I stamped and masked the squid from ‘Totally Narly’ on the background card. Then blended distress inks cracked pistachio, salty ocean and chipped sapphire over the background and splattered on perfect pearls. I dropped the sequins into the wells, glued on the background, stamped sentiment on acetate and attached coloured seahorse to finish off the shaker card. See I told ya the wave panel die was versatile!

Our May guest Samantha Olden has a spring card filled with flowers to share with everyone.
Here is more about the card from Samantha… Yay, it’s a long weekend here in Canada. An extra day on the weekend is always a good excuse to find some crafty time. Today I am sharing a card that uses the versatile ‘Spring Window Die’ that Your Next Stamp just released.
I thought that the little flower die in the set is perfect to use with the alcohol pearl inks that I recently bought. I selected a rainbow of colours and simply created large splats of alcohol pearl on yupo paper. I then repeatedly die cut the flowers and leaves out of the splats until I had a collection of them to lay out on the card.
I kept the background quite clean to show off the white glitter window and of course the shimmery flowers. It is hard to capture the shimmer of the pearls, but hopefully the close up image gives you a sense of how shimmery and colourful the pearls make these cute flowers.
To finish off the card I added some gems and voila you have a sparkly shiny spring garden card.
